Our Team


Donald Weiss


Don has over 30 years of experience in the real estate development business. His father founded WiseWay supermarkets and,  in 1982, Don took the reins and helped propel it into one of the largest independent supermarkets in Northwest Indiana. He also created the Wiseguys liquor stores.

Today, Don is generating similar success with a diversified focus on retail space and multifamily. Currently, Weiss Entities (WE) has built and is managing multiple shopping centers, and a growing number of apartment developments, including one in downtown Chicago. With a vision to meet the needs of communities, Don has a strategic plan for expanding the Weiss portfolio far into the future.

Don is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Washington University in St. Louis with a M.B.A. in Real Estate Finance from Columbia University.

He serves on boards and/or provides leadership support for many profit and non-profit organizations in Indiana and Chicago including WBEZ Public Radio and KIPP Charter Schools.


Bob Sotak

Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

A perfect fit for the Weiss Entities (WE) growth strategy, Bob has over 25 years of experience in the acquisition, development, project management, disposition and financing of retail and multifamily assets.

Bob’s employment history and experience is 100% real estate. He is the former Senior Vice President at The John Buck Company, a Chicago based developer, and prior to that worked within Ernst & Young’s financial services and real estate practice groups.

Bob is a high honors graduate of DePaul University and a certified public accountant (CPA).


Angela Fielder, CAM

Vice President of Real Estate Operations

Angela’s distinct leadership qualities in multifamily development and management have led to great success during her career.  Over the years, Angela has excelled in a variety of management positions, and was Vice President of Operations with another leading development firm, before Weiss Entities recruited her talents in 2012.

At Weiss Entities (WE), Angela’s duties include: management training guidelines, brand/marketing development, company policies and procedures, budget forecasts and due diligence of new acquisitions and other responsibilities. She also plays an integral role daily operations and disposition/acquisition of assets.

Angela studied Law at Lamson College in Mesa, Arizona, is a member of the National Apartment Association, Indiana, and has earned her Certified Apartment Manager (CAM) designation.


Bob Collins, A.I.A., NCARB

Vice President of Design and Construction

With 35 years of experience, several as the owner of his own firm and working on projects of up to $60 million, Robert is a specialist in commercial and multifamily architecture. Fact is, he was lead architect of Weiss Entities (WE) projects before actually joining the company in 2007.

Since joining the firm, Robert has put his expertise to work overseeing site development, design, onstruction and being responsible for every physical aspect of WE real estate.

Robert is a graduate of the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana with a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies.  He received his Masters Degree in Architecture, with a focus on real estate development, from the University of Illinois.  Roberti s also a member of the American Institute of Architects and National Council of Architectural Registration Boards.


Brett Gargano


Brett joined Weiss Entities in October of 2014. He is responsible for Accounting and Financial Reporting, Payroll and Payroll Taxes, Risk Management and Benefits administration.  He is a Certified Public Accountant with over 20 years of experience in Finance and Accounting.

Previous experience includes 10 years as Senior Director for Officemax, Inc., a publicly traded retailer.  Prior to Officemax, Mr. Gargano was the Controller for TCA, a regional Real Estate Developer and Management Company of multi-use, commercial and residential properties.  Brett started his career in Public Accounting and is a graduate of the University of Arizona.


Bob Billick

Senior Project Manager

Mr. Billick has brought a wealth of experience to the Weiss Team with his management experience of over 3 million square feet of development projects of all types .  Projects include a 150,000 SF build-out for the ChicagoHousing Authority, a 36-story mixed use development in Chicago, a 35-story apartment in Philadelphia and the first Virgin Hotel in downtown Chicago.

At Weiss, Bob’s main focus is on coordinating communications between construction contractors, owners, public offices, architects, engineers and other trade specific consultants.  His responsibilities also include drafting and sequencing project schedules and budgets with investors.

Bob attended Purdue and Indiana Northwest and is actively involved with CCA Academy Renovation, Beard School Park Renovation, Off The Street Club Renovation and other civic organizations.


Guy Toczek

Director of Information Systems

Guy is the “technical wizard” at WE with 25 years of experience and outstanding qualifications. Formerly, he was Director of Information Operations for the American Steel Foundries Corporation and charged with modernizing tech operations in facilities across the entire United States.

At Weiss, Guy makes sure all our current computer systems run accurately and efficiently while keeping us abreast of the latest tech to optimize our operations.

Guy graduated with a degree in Industrial Engineering from Purdue and went on to complete studies in Computer Sciences and Human Relations.
